Congratulations Coach Ward !!

Coach Andy Ward, Head Basketball Coach for Eastern Wyoming College, had a great recruiting year. He has given us the name of one of his newest recruits. Joe Stover from Clarksville, Ind. will be joining EWC in the fall. Joe was ranked #84 in the Hoosier Basketball Magazine's Top 100 senior boys' high school performers. Congratulations to Joe Stover and to Coach Ward for a great new addition to our basketball program. GO LANCERS

EWC's Willie Grimm is Regional Champion


Eastern Wyoming College Brings Home Regional Championship

EWC bull rider Willie Grimm, Harrison, NE, is the 2006 Central Rocky Mountain Region champion. Grimm led the standings most of the season and was crowned regional champion at the Central Wyoming College rodeo held in Riverton over the weekend.

Bull riding team mate Kyle Lozier, Williams Lake, BC came in a close second behind Grimm and captured the reserve champion title.

Jayce Johnson, Alliance, NE, finished the year as the reserve champion tie-down roper. His horse, “Doctor Post” was honored as the Central Rocky Mountain Region Men’s horse of the year. Saddle bronc rider Derek Kenner, Woodlake, NE was also the reserve champion in his event.

EWC rodeo coach Jake Clark was awarded the honor of Coach of the Year for this region.

Coach Clark was very pleased with his student’s performances. “I am very proud of these students. They worked hard all year and it paid off. I look for them all to be very strong competitors at the college finals in Casper.”

All of these students will go on to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), June 11-17, in Casper, WY. The top three qualifiers in each event for each region advance to compete at the CNFR.

Sky's the Limit


Kyle Speller was a student athlete for Eastern Wyoming College from 1989 through 1991. He was also on the 1991 Region IX Men's Basketball Championship Team. After EWC, Kyle tranferred to Adams State, in Colorado. He is now the "Voice" of the Denver Nuggets. What a great achievement and goal for Kyle and his family. EWC Golfer Win


The Eastern Wyoming College golf team hosted the Torrington Invitational at the Cottonwood County Club on Friday and Saturday and placed four individuals in the top 10 to walk away with the overall team title.
The Lancers shot a team total of 592 in the two-day tournament while Otero, Colo., Junior College and Lamar, Colo., Junior College finished tied for second place with a team score of 626.
Cody Pennington led the Lancers and grabbed the individual title shooting a 142 overall. Pennington shot a 69 in round one and a 73 in round two on the par 72 course.
Kenton Gamache shot back-to-back scores of 71 and 72 to finish in third place overall with a combined score of 143.
Kyle Cotton finished in sixth place for the Lancers with scores of 72 on day one and 77 on day two while David Sarette added a 10th place finish for EWC with scores of 76 and 82 respectively.
Also competing for the Lancers but did not place were Paul Zowada (79 and 80), Jeremy Frueh (79 and 82), A.J. Ostdiek (84 and 78) and Jack Robbins (88 and 79).
